My husband and I make too much money to qualify for financial aid apparently. I take out student loans to pay for my college and still have to spend about $4,000 extra per year b/c the loans don't cover my entire tuition/books.

A classmate of mine recently got a brand new coach purse, cellphone and new clothes. She was bragging that she got the money from her $500 pell grant refund.

Let me get this straight, her college is 100% paid, doesn't have to be paid back and STILL gets a refund back to spend on purses when I can barely cover tuition?

I'm all for gov helping people afford college but shouldn't they ONLY cover her tuition/books/fees and the rest go back to the gov?? MY tax dollars essentially paid for her new "accessories"

I, on the other hand don't qualify for ANY help whatsoever b/c my husband and I made $40,000 last year by working overtime. Can anyone explain the logic of the gov giving a "refund" to people who didn't pay anything to begin with??

I am the type of person that worries alot about their grades especially since colleges look at your grades. Well, I am a freshman in high school and I have some questions about my grades. First off, I have 7 classes, 6 of them being Honors Classes. The only class that was not Honors is Health. Honors classes are worth 5 points and Regular classes are worth 4 points. For the first semester, I got 4 A's, 2 B's, and 1 C. The C was in Honors Biology. My question is that, are my grades good, average, acceptable? You might say why take 6 honors your freshman year, well my school is one of the best in the state and only offers honors and A.P. classes besides P.E. and Health. So, my grades ok, and should I worry? Help is appreciated. Thank you.

I'm planning on majoring in Computer Engineering next year and possibly at RIT. But I'm really nervous about how well I'll do since I really don't know that much about computers. I just got interested with it this year so I haven't spent a lot of time learning about it, and the only computer classes I've taken are basic programming classes like C++ and Visual Basic, but I do have a genuine interest in computers. Even so, I'm afraid I wont be able to keep up at RIT since they're really known for their computer geeks, and most of the incoming freshmans probably already know tons of crap about computers. So my question is, am I a lost cause? Will my professors speed up their lessons b/c they assume everyone already knows about it? Will I be the only student who's starting fresh?

Alright. I have to do an essay about the swastika. 5 paragraphs. Will someone please tell me if I'm off on a good start?

The word Swastika comes from the Sanskirt word meaning "to do." This symbol used to represent positive things such as sun, power, strengh, and even good luck 3,000 years ago. The Swastika also used to be used as decoration for postcards, coins, and buildings. It wasn't until 1920 that the Swastika was a symbol of hate, death, and violence.

In 1920 Adolf Hitler thought that the Nazi Party needed it's own new flag. Hitler chose the Swastika as the new flag because...And I can't find out why he chose the Swastika. Thanks in advance!!

I made a thirty on mine. I want colleges to know that I am only in eighth grade so they won't take this as a bad score. Do they look at the age of a student taking the exam?
