I'm planning on majoring in Computer Engineering next year and possibly at RIT. But I'm really nervous about how well I'll do since I really don't know that much about computers. I just got interested with it this year so I haven't spent a lot of time learning about it, and the only computer classes I've taken are basic programming classes like C++ and Visual Basic, but I do have a genuine interest in computers. Even so, I'm afraid I wont be able to keep up at RIT since they're really known for their computer geeks, and most of the incoming freshmans probably already know tons of crap about computers. So my question is, am I a lost cause? Will my professors speed up their lessons b/c they assume everyone already knows about it? Will I be the only student who's starting fresh?

Talk to the guidance counselor at the school and find out if they have beginning classes. Sometimes they have slow paced beginning courses (even for the geeks) because even though they know a lot, there still may be things that they need help with or little facts that will help them.

Don't worry until after you have asked a few questions from the advisor there. Also, maybe you can get help from some of the more advanced kids if you need it.
