Im writing a paper on lord of the flies & cinematic techniques for school and someones opinion on this sentence, did I use the commas and the semicolon correctly and does it sound right. any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am writing a research paper on the causes of the Civil War. I know almost everyone is going to say slavery, but that really wasn't the MAIN cause although it was a major issue.

I want to start my Masters in fall 2008 but I am so confused about which program to do and which school to attend. I have 5 years working experience in the media; for 5 years I have been a tv news reporter. However in the past few months I left the media and I am now working as a public education officer for an environmental agency, where I plan events, do PR, and conduct public awarness campaigns/exhibitions. My passion is communicating with people and getting my message across no matter what medium I choose, however I really don't know what to pursue my Masters in and which school to attend.
