Im writing a paper on lord of the flies & cinematic techniques for school and someones opinion on this sentence, did I use the commas and the semicolon correctly and does it sound right. any help would be greatly appreciated.

[The long shot of the ocean, after the boys think the beast is in the water, shows the isolation and the doubt in their minds about the possibility of the beast existing; this displays how fear can spread throughout a society by just a few people.]

After the boys suspect the beast of being in the water, there is an extended shot of the ocean. This places emphasis on distance and isolation triggering self doubt and fear, also displaying how minor influences can have mass effects.

Remember that whatever is on either side of a semicolon should be a complete sentence. It looks good to me! (Great book & movie, by the way!)

Everything does seem and sound right. Little bit of advice. When in doubt always break it up into two sentences. That's what I do.
