I know this is somewhat of a broad question, but I'm really looking for any careers that people have pursued that involve teaching, counseling, and helping kids. Job descriptions, how to get into such professions, any details you can include would be appriciated!

I am teaching Japanese children between the ages of 12-18. I have one class ( of 15-year-olds ) where there are about six kids who are really hard work. They are rude and don't do their work. I teach them only twice a week, and their other English teacher yells a lot. Which doesn't help. I'm frustrated because they are smart kids, but they just behave like brats. In other classes I've sorted out problems with good results ( kids motivated and, if not well-behaved, then not actively nasty ), but I'm coming up against a brick wall here... Help!

I'm keeping my hopes up for an outside shot at their Walsh School of Foreign Service. Yeah, my undergrad GPA (2.55) is pretty abysmal to say the least.

But I have a lot of overseas work experience; I was a Peace Corps Volunteer for two years, so I really don't know how much better the admissions brass would want me to be (or how much I better I *could* be) in this respect.

And I think it would be really sad for the university not to give me due credit for this (which they'll probably say they will to be politically correct, but in reality won't)

If the university is going to look only at my GPA, then, yeah, I'd say my chances are nil.

I am a grades 3-5 gifted and talented teacher and I really enjoy writing lesson plans. Since they are for a gifted program, they are very interactive and hands-on. I think (and I've been told) they are pretty good. Are these marketable to any company??? I have a bunch and I figured it might be worth selling them?

What should I name my character for my story. I would like something creative, but I can't think of anything!

My character is a female that had lossed a loved one at a young age. She blames herself and her life spirals into depression. Even though your character was once strong, loquacious, determined, and highly perseverant, she has lost all hope in herself and loses faith in life. She begins to rebuild herself though and begins to slowly forgive , but for every step she takes, it's 3 steps back in her heart,

I am an aspiring teacher who is very much excited about entering into the world of elementary education. Currently, I am enrolled in a 18-month alternative teaching certification program (content area: social studies) and, hopefully, will be working as a full-time teacher by August of this year. I was just wondering if there are any teaching professionals out there that could shed some light on the profession, offer a little advice, and/or offer a few tips that will help me along the way. Any response you could provide will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
