New York. There were many names but the colonial name was New York in honor of the Duke of York. You can read more on this link.

It was controlled by Dutch. Then, in 1664, England got it. It was named after the Duke of York. The colkony was called New Amsterdam at first, but then it became New York after it belonged to England.
