My son has applied to medical schools around the US. He has heard from some (they have scheduled interviews or sent rejection letters) but not all of them. When should he be concerned that he hasn't heard from the remainder of them?

I've always wanted to be a teacher ever since I was really little but, it seems like I get very inpatient around kids. Do you think I will become more patient as I get older or will I have to give up my dream of becoming an Elementary School Teacher?

I'm a Stanford psychology student. I somewhat dismayed that I haven't read as many good books as I would have liked. I certainly do not want to become a philistine. I'm not asking to become the next Frasier Crane, but I would like to be more culturally literate.

I have on my reading list books by - Nietzsche (obviously), Marx, Bertarnd Russell, Richard Dawkins, Tolstoy, Dostoevsky, J.D. Salinger, Don DiLillo, George Orwell, Rosseau, Ayn Rand, Schopenhauer, Sam Harris, Conrad, Vonnegut,

Which works from that list of authors would you recommend that I read?

What books are indispensible to a college student?

This may be a silly question, but to those erudite readers - how do you read a book? - Straight through? An hour a day? Laying in bed? Sitting on a couch? Many people do not know the best way to go about reading a book.

If you don't know a word, do you look it up in the dictionary, or do you just make it out and/or skip it? Thanks!!

so right now, im a junior attending one of the top 5% schools in the nation, according to newsweekly . im kinda scared because i really want to make it to ivy schools or other prestigious schools in teh east coast but my gpa is only a 3.5. in addition to that, ive also got 2 C`s my freshman year in bio and 2 C`s in math last year. however, i am a math level ahead, but getting a c ..anwyas, for sure in college, im not gonna go into math or science, but i think those 2 C`s are gonna hurt my admittance to schools i want. ive been on 2 sports team all my years here . im also in asb, mun, and a few clubs. i hear alot depends on teh sat scores, so im hoping ill do well on them when i take it, but ive already taken one sat2 - chinese and i got a 780. (im planning on retaking it) i think wha tim most worried about are my c`s . my school counselor told me that the colleges will take into consideration taht our school is one of the toughest academically, but im still worried.

I think I'm and auditory learner cuz I always speak loud when I study but can I develop my visual learning style?cuz I study a lot in the university library(and I can't speak loud there)

I speak French fluently and I am the first person in my family to go to college. I have a weighted GPA of 4.12 academic GPA 3.7 . By the end of my senior I would have taken 13 exams passing 7 exams. I was the president of the French club and this year I am the president of the European Club. I played in the advanced Jazz band my junior year only because it was difficult( I played the piano). I took two other foreign languages at school. spanish 1-2,3-4,AP Language, this year AP Span lit.(only non-native in class), also took german 7-8 got a B both semesters(studied a lot over the summer). Language and music are my hobbies. However I was not in sports. I have a lot SAT of 1630 and ACT composite 23. I did 50 hours community service. Volunteered 150 hours as teacher's aide and outside work. I also went to Long Beach City college in the summer of my sophmore year to take Intermediate Algebra and Spanish 3. As a result I am in AP Span Lit and AP Calc this year. So will I be accepted ?

I am a junior in high school and unsure of what to major in college. I love pets and helping people and want a career that I will enjoy. My grades are not as good as I would like them to be mostly C's so do you think I should go to community college first then transfer to a university or go straight to a university? Help!!!!!
