Is syracuse university a bad college? Do they party alot? Is it a Drug environment. Can you please tell me because I know someone who is interested in this college?

The Fiske Guide to Colleges 2006 gives it (out of 5 stars possible on each):
3 for Academics
3 for Social Life
3 for Quality of Life
The book says that it's "overlap" schools are: NYU, Boston University, Penn State, Cornell, U of Maryland
I'm sure there's partying at all schools, but I'll bet that the climate is more tolerant than before...ie live and let live. There's room for everyone...the partyers, those committed to their studies, etc. It's up to the individual to make what they want of the experience.

It's a great school. All schools have students who party and are not as focused. These are not the things to focus on. Does the school have the program that your friend wants? Is it an accredited program? If going away from home is it far enough/ too far? Syracuse is a great school I have family and friends who have all manner of degrees from there and it worked for them. If you are really concerned go on their website and find out about residential life and call and see if they can put you in contact with some current students who can answer specific questions. All college have students that party alot - Syracuse is a very good school.

I think it is a wondeful college. I let my 16 year old son attend there for a summer program where High School students are able to get college credit. Also my neice and nephew have gotten their degrees from SU and went on to great jobs. YES go to college. :)

It is a legitmate school with some quality programs. If you seek drugs, you find it on any campus. But if you don't, why worry?

It is a very good school. However, there are comparable universities that don't have orange as a school color & have things to do for fun other than watch basketball.
