Education & Reference - 7 November 2006

My mother passed away in 1998 and my stepmother passed away in 2004 from cancer. Are there any scholarships or grants that I might quailfy for? My dad owns his own business so when calculating my financial qualifications, everyone counts what the business brings home, not what he makes. On top of that, he won't co-sign for and student loans. I really wanna go to school and further my education and would really apprechiate any help you can offer. Thanks.

I will be transferring to PSU State College in Fall of '07. Right now I am going in as an English major, but I would like to have one, if not two, minors as well. The four minors that I have been considering are Technical Writing, IST, Public Relations, and Spanish. If I were to pick two of these, which would you guys recommend I go with. I am at least somewhat interested in all of these subjects. I would really be interested in the opinions of people who are familiar with PSUpark, but I am also curious to hear from anyone working from the degrees I've mentioned. Thanks!

PS I do not want to teach with my English degree, or at all for that matter, so no point in mentioning teaching at all in your responses! LOL

It was suggested we give a persuasive speech on something we're passionate about. I am passionate about the Philippines. I'm stuck on how I can make a persuasive speech about that.

I don't want to persuade people to GO to the Philippines, because I know not everyone can afford to ($ and time). I was thinking of more inspiring/persuading people to just CONSIDER the Philippines as a place to see/visit/experience.

Some good points I have so far as to why people should consider visiting the Philippines are:
1) Friendly people
2) Food's delicious
3) English is spoken by a good majority

Is this an OK topic for a persuasive speech? Should I focus on a particular place in the Philippines? The time for this speech is 5-7 mins. I want to avoid "hot" topics (abortion, gay marriage, stem cell, gun control, etc.) and wanted something more fun/light.

I am sticking with this topic. I would like suggestions on how to make it more 'persuasive' or at least entertaining. Thanks!

I'm 20yrs old and I have been working since I was 17 1/2 (graduated high school early) and went to community college where I finished my general education while working. I moved out of my mother's house and I'm financially responsible for myself, luckily i have a good job. BUT I WANT TO GET A DEGREE however it will be extremely difficult to get it in the traditional manner...anybody know of UniofPhoniex (for accounting degree) then Concord Law School?

I'm not planning on becoming an attorney rather a financial and mortgage consultant since I'm already an assistant to a mortgage consultant.
