I agree with the people who've said to do a lot of community service. A LOT. Find a cause you're interested in and become involved in it. Participate in extracurricular activities, improve your essay-writing skills...and also, to get into a top-ten colleges, it helps to know people or have a parent thatis an alumni of the school and/or donated money to them.

You know English, huh? So why did you not capitalize the first letter of the languages? Nope. You are not top 10 material!
Just kidding. Seriously, you need some community activities, charity work, etc. Show yourself to be a well-rounded individual with different interests and experiences. Join honor societies that you qualify for, and a club or two. I mean like the science club, chess club, etc.
Also, write a great admissions essay and have someone who is well-versed in writing skills help you edit and polish it.
Don't expect to get into schools like Harvard or Yale, unless your family is very wealthy and donating to them, famous and brings notoriety, or is a legacy family; but if that were the case you would know you were a shoe-in and wouldn't be asking this question. You should apply, because they do accept a small percentage of students who do not fit that mold and you just might get in.
Apply to several universities in case some turn you down, and with the top-10, you are unlikely to be accepted at all of them.
Good Luck!

Sure you could make it into a Top 10 college with that GPA and that SAT score. If you're a member of the National Honor Society you have an EXCELLENT chance. Getting scholarships, well, that's tougher...

Your numbers are obviously excellent, but do you have any other extracurriculars? How about service hours?
Good universities look at much more than numbers.

it's all about the money and if you have it or not.
then the numbers can make up the differences.
