I'm getting tired of places like Outback Steakhouse, The Olive Garden, Red Lobster, etc. as family or date night restaurants. They are crowded, noisy, and not excellent or exceptional at service, and they are expensive! I'm starting to really miss the old mom and pop restaurants that always had a table, a table with elbow room between table guests and other tables. That always took a moment to say hi and to get to know your name. That always had decent, if not great food, that everyone in the family could enjoy. I guess I'm getting old and missing the good old days. Anyone else feeling the same way?

When going to a resturant, it saids 15% will be added to partys 6 or more. Do we have to pay it? I mean, I will glady tip more than 15% if the service is well, but if they suck, do I have ti tip?

I was eating dinner tonight at a California Pizza Kitchen in St. Louis, and listening to the table behind me chatter about what tip to leave after their meal. I heard one guy say, "She was pretty good" (about the waitress), followed by another person saying, "Leave two bucks," and the first person said "I'll leave a dollar twenty-five."

The guy ordered a pizza and a soda. That's gotta be 15 bucks, so this person was leaving anywhere between a 13 percent and a 7 percent tip, and decided that was acceptable for a waitress who did good service.

I always thought the standard tip was 15 percent, and I usually tip around 20%. Do people not understand that most waitstaff make $2.13 an hour? Or do they just not care? Is there a general feeling of "it's not like he/she has to pay for anything?" What's going on?

And what do YOU tip?

I realize that this is a pretty big question and a lot of really existential-crisis type subquestions.

They are celebrating 67 years of buisiness. We know that
but why there continuing long lines? Who waits for a chili dog
or hot dog for half an hour and more?

my husband and myself could go for a lovely romantic meal for our 2nd anniversary? It is on Monday the 11th of September and we wouldn't mind going for a drink afterwards in Liverpool. We are from the Wirral.

They are training (or trying to train) a guy to replace me when I leave..he didn't put any water in the veg before putting them into the steamer and they ended up in the warmer with no water...Judy (the general manager)chewed my a$s out about it because as always everything is my fault...she had complained about the English peas last...I told Wes, in Judy's presence, "Would you kindly add water to the veg so that when Judy comes back here to take a pea she can be assured it will be a wet one"...oh, she was pissed off! I'm suprised she didn't send me home! She slammed the warmer door shut and slammed the veg down onto the prep table and scowled as if I'd just crapped in a bowl and told her to eat it up and enjoy...I really do hate that woman!

I'm trying to find somewhere in London to book for a work Christmas do. But there's so many places and everywhere has mixed reviews. We went to Abacus last year and want something similar. There's a mix of people but we're looking for somewhere we can have a good meal (for about £30 a head), plus lots of drinking and dancing.

Does anyone have any ideas??

My friends and I went to a sports bar our waitress was serving us ( a group of 4 girls) another table with also all girls about 6 and then a third table with three men . The table of girls next to us complained the same they never were brought half of the drinks they ordered and you at to hunt her down to order . The table with the three guy had all the service . They were not even noticing her , flirtting or anything while she giggled like an idiot . BOth tables with women even had to scream at her for the bill . WHen we went to pay I noticed she gaved us more change than even money we gaved her and the other group of girls we could over hear them talking about the same thing ....Okay call it mean but ourselves and the other girls left , without telling her she was wrong . As she practically was snearing at the fact she had to serve women . Have you had an experience worse then this ?

When the waiter only serves you drinks and brings you your check

Also what about buffet resturants that are only clearing your table. you get your own food and drinks?
