There is a place in West Los Angeles known as Little Osaka. There are restaurants, grocery stores, teashops, cafes, and gift shops aligned on the streets of Sawtelle Blvd., between Olympic Boulevard and Santa Monica Boulevard. Within the past few years, Sawtelle has become the trendy hot spot amongst not only young Japanese students, but among Asian Americans and Americans in general who appreciate the ambiance of dining in Japan.
The variety of Japanese food that is available is the focal point of the area, as there are many types of Japanese restaurants on Sawtelle that go beyond the typical sushi restaurants (including the popular Hide Sushi [2040 Sawtelle Blvd., 310-477-7242]) and ramen shops (like the quick and tasty Asahi Ramen [2027 Sawtelle Blvd., 310-479-2231]).
My favorite is Furaibo (2068 Sawtelle Blvd., 310-444-1432), which resembles an izakaya in Japan, a place where you can eat and drink a variety of Japanese style foods like chicken skewers (kushisashi) and shochu mixed cocktails in private tatami mat rooms. A must is the tebasaki chicken wings, perfectly crispy and covered in the most delicious spices and seasonings that can be ordered in any range of spiciness. My favorite drink is the Calpico Shochu, which is shochu alcohol mixed with the popular Japanese drink, Calpico (very tasty yet indescribable). The prices are inexpensive and portions are made for ordering several dishes to share, making it perfect for tasting a variety of izakaya dishes. In short, Furaibo is a perfect place to drink, eat, and have fun with friends.
Another unique Japanese food that might be difficult to find is shabu shabu, which is served at Mizu 212 (2000 Sawtelle Blvd., 310-478-8979). There, you sit in front of a personal boiling pot where you boil your own meat, vegetables, and noodles and eat by dipping them into either soy based or miso based sauces. This provides another authentic Japanese dining experience that is fun and distinctive.

if you want FUN - The Palms on Hollywood Blvd - it's a great Thai place that features Thai Elvis - an Asian Elvis impersonator that performs every night at 7:30pm.
if you want ELEGANT BIZARRE - go to the Magic Castle in Hollywood. You can take in a magic show and dinner and be completely entertained by the side magicians and magical piano - but you'll need to ask around because it's by invitation only! (it's not that hard - someone will be able to get you in!)
INTERESTING FOOD - The Stinking Rose on La Brea Ave - good food with the focus on garlic - cozy atmosphere and good service.
or after a long day anniversary day at the BEACH - Gladstones in Santa Monica - eat outside and have the best clam chowder in LA, some lobster, and some fun drinks with little umbrella's!
the most ROMANTIC - Paradise Cove in Malibu, right off the PCH - the restaurant is on a private beach. You can go for a moonlit walk after eating at a New England style seafood beach restaurant (the restaurant itself isn't very elegant, but the location is wonderful!)
Have a great anniversary! (I just made myself homesick for LA!)

Marinos on La Brea west of Rossmore(Vine). Italian, unassuming
not gaudy, but very fine dining, expensive ($150 to $300 for 2 or
three people unless you're just having a large salad, bread, and
wine), first class service, casual attire. Small restaurant, quiet,
but when you leave you will leave very satisfied and you will have
a new favorite restaurant. Full bar. Valet. The owners make
sure you get good food and good service.

On the other hand if you want lavish you can go to the
Universal City Hilton on weekends for the most impressive
Supper Buffet you have ever seen. Around $40 to $50/person,
heavy on Asian food, but with all the American favorites including
Prime Rib, Cooks that prepare your pasta with seafood in
front of you, Ham, Turkey, Lamb, Tonnes of Shrimp, Oysters,
and Crab legs, Sushi Bar, Sashimi, more pastries than you
can shake a stick at. Unusual salads including jelly fish
tentacle salad. Gorgeous Dinning with huge vaulted and windowed ceilings. ON holidays you stand in line for 10 to 15
minutes to get the main courses(yes I said courses not course).
People love this place, and its always busy, and rightly so.

The Charthouse in Marina Del Rey, a little more expensive than your regular but it's worth it. It's buy the docks and the food is extremely great. They have a desert called the lava cake which is very popular and very great. Oh and they have GREAT service, the lights are dimmed in there and sometimes soft music is playing, it's a very relaxed atmosphere. It serves American, barbeque, and seafood cuisine. They have very big windows by the docks so you could see or you could go outside also.
The number is (310) 822-4144

Wow. Depends on the size of your pocket book, what you want to eat, and WHERE exactly you live/are willing to drive. Here are a few suggestions:
Visit: www.digitalcity.com for a list by price, taste, etc.
Windows, DOWNTOWN is great at Sunset and very romantic
Shutters, Santa Monica very romantic on the water
The Little Door, somewhere in LA, VERY good, pricy.
Dar Mahgreb (sp?) Morrocan, VERY good and FUN!
Beverly Hills, Melrose, etc. offer lots of choices.
Go to Digital City. You'll find EVERYTHING you need there.

I say you two hop in a car and head out to Vegas. The is a steak house right off of Las Vegas Blvd on Sahara. It's called the Golden Steer, it's really fancy. It's know to be the oldest steak house in Vegas and the hang out spot of the rat pack.
