I dont know if its bad luck or if its just me, but every headphones i buy will stop working on one side after a few months, but im pretty sure i take care of them. can anyone tell me why?

i plugged a light in and it sparked then that recepticle stopped working. It now appears that the whole circurt is fried.None of the receptiles/fixtures have power going to them, but he breaker didnt trip.In fact it still has power???????why didnt it trip the breaker and where do I begin to find the problem?

I am looking for an inverter, that supports atleast 4 tube lights, 3 fans and one refrigerator during a power cut (for 3 hours atleast). Su-Kam pure sinewave inverter seems to be a safe one, but no details are available on how many appliances it shall support and for how many hours.
