Before you start shopping for a refrigerator, decide which fridge style works best for you.
Traditional models (with freezer on top) have wide shelves for club-store-size groceries. If you're a fresh-produce fan, go for a unit with the fridge on top, so you won't have to bend down for the crisper bin.
No space in your kitchen for wide-swinging doors? Side-by-side units have narrow ones.
To get a built-in look for less, check out new counter-depth models that are designed to be flush with standard 30-inch counter tops.
All of the six winners selected by the Good Housekeeping Institute based on its rigorous product tests have see-through bins and a water dispenser, a feature once found only on side-by-sides. But just three (Hotpoint's Side-by-Side, the Sears Kenmore Elite and the Kitchen Aid Superba Counter Depth) dole out ice. And unless otherwise noted, they all come in black, white, bisque and stainless. Also GE is good

We have an LG - which is the company who makes the parts for GE Profile. The quality is that of the GE Profile, but the price is that of a "no name generic" - I think it was actually 1/3 the price. Dual zones keep the veggies crisp, the fruits fresh (much longer than other fridges we've had). The seller for me was that the bread stays for weeks in this fridge compared to others!

I agree with Whirlpool, but Tappan is actually a good brand. They are the generic of frigidaire, all the quality, and half the price
