I recently got a 40 GB PS3 for X-mas, not knowing until after I got it that basically only the 60 GB PS3 can backwards play old PS2 games. I know I should've done some research before I went out and got the 40 GB PS3. Then again, I've heard that its really tough to find a 60 GB PS3 anywhere for that matter. I also heard from some gut at a gaming store that I go to that even the 80 GB PS3 doesn't necessarily play PS2 games very consistently.
Anyways, it sounds like I may have answered my own question, but if any of you have anything additional to add, please, by all means, feel free.
You know what one of the worst things is that today after work I'm going to sell the five remaining PS2 games that I have left.

im saving for both a HD TV and a PS3 i need like 180 more for a 80 gig so i have 320 i dont know what to buy first if i buy the HDTV first i can have a great time with my ps2 games but if i go with ps3 i can play my new ps3 games on a piece of crap SD like 16" by 12" TV please help me

I got the 80gig PS3, and I know its supose to play ps2 games, but it wont play MGS 3, THP8, and Def Jam Vendetta and a few others... Is there something wrong with my PS3? Or was I just lucky enough to pick the few that dont work.

I have the newer, thinner PS2. If I put a disk in and the disk will not even spin. The machine just shows the Browser and System Configuration menu on the TV. I don't know what to do. I have had the thing for over a year but I only used it a few times.

Is there some kind of "reset" button that I would need to press.

I mean I wanted to buy a 60, but they're discontinued and the 80gb don't arrive in the UK til March 2008 so if I bought a 40 would I be able to get more memory added to it somehow? Also can it be reconfigured so it supports ps2 games?

I am trying to buy two ps1 games for my ps2 and I know that they won't save onto a ps2 memory card so I want to buy a ps1 memory card. What is a good dependable website that I can buy one from? What kind should I get? Are there any sites that don't require a credit card?

It's rather annoyng now, saving at checkpoints only, while on PC you can save whenever you want. On older consoles it had a reason for it - very limited memory, but on PS3 or 360 with their huge HDDs? Why developers still use this outdated saving system?

I can't stand when the playstation 3 internet browser freezes, hard to view websites without a flash player, frequently asks me to turn on/off my plugin when i am about to enter most websites and it slow. I much whether use my laptop instead but my screen is hardly damaged. I hope sony improves those problems.
