Yes, ps3 controllers have to be replaced. But dont worry, the batteries last a long time and sony will replace controllers for free.

No, in the manual for PS3 there is an instruction how to replace a worn-out rechargeable battery. It's easy.

no you don't replace the controller you just buy a new replacement battery .
