Consumer Electronics - 18 August 2007

It would make things easier if I can join an existing cooker cable to a slightly smaller 2.5mm cable that goes from my house to my studio in the garden. I will get everthing checked by a qualified friend at some stage. would this set up be OK?

It does it every few seconds with no pattern. I've tried turning it off and taking the simcard and batter out but to no avail. Any ideads?

Ok, I am really satisfied with this mobile however since 3 days there is a problem. I call a number but then its not saved in the outgoing calls so i have to dial again. Or when I have a missed call and try to see it it sais no missed calls. Or when I check some calls i made 2 days ago and i call again a number it dissapears from the outgoing calls list..... any advice???

I am about to buy a vintage phone, from the UK - it works with the BT (UK) phone system, I am moving to France, will I be able to take it with me and use it in the French Telecom system? If not, what do I have to do to convert it, do analogue phones work in France and is it worth buying a phone in the UK that has not already been converted to work with BT if I am going to have to get it converted again? thanks

Why is it that everyone seems to love Micro$oft but hate Sony. Everybody says that Sony is just money hungry and expensive and takes advantage of consumers whether it be the PS3, BlueRay, etc... It is not like Micro$oft is some little underdog company fighting the big bad Sony, I find them just as bad if not worse than Sony. Microsoft plays dirty to keep competition out of its markets and is horrible at designing consumer products. Is it really necessary for me to buy an 360, HDDVD add on, X-box live subscription, lower quality HD video and audio output, etc all separate? Yeah Sony charges 600$ for a PS3 but at least everything is built in and streamlined and top of the line in terms of audio and video, without needing giant power bricks and industrial grade ventilation systems. I'm not saying Sony is a saint, they charge me 50$ for a controller and cant give me a 2$ USB cord, but Microsoft is no better. Why is there all there this sudden love for Microsoft and hate for Sony.

I like to watch the local weather and the occasional episode of "Law And Order" but my brother tells me that regular tv will disappear and if you don't have cable you will have to buy a thousand dollar digital tv? This only recently began happenning and I have no clue why- When I put my memory card in my computer and try to view the photos I get an error message that says "The disk cannot be written to because it is write protected. Please remove the write protection from the volume in drive /Device/Harddisk1/DR2" sometimes it's DR4 or DR6. I've tried messing with the lock on my memory card but it doesn't seem to do anything. How can I fix this and why is it happenning?
