Anyone who's ever worked on the two and has a functioning brain is going to pick Sony every time. Why? Because the asker asked which has more quality and, while Samsung is just beginning to learn what that means, Sony has been practicing it for around 4 decades. As the previous answerer asks, How many 10 year old Samsungs are still around? Geez... this is not rocket science. Open your eyes people. Samsung is but a beginner. A pretty good one, but still a beginner. Sony knows what they're doing. This has been the case for a long, long time.

Anyone who's been in the business for more than a decade is going to choose a Sony. How many Samsungs that old are still around? Hmmmm?

And the guy that thinks a side by side comparison is going to lead one to pick a Samsung needs his eyes checked. I was just at Costco today looking at their display. Sony is the clear winner.

And the guy that thinks Bose sounds good needs his ears checked. He obviously has never heard a good sound system. Bose systems are merely fair.

"First of all, to the person that said 'that's why TV stations use Sony's in there control room'. What does that have to do with anything?"

Picture quality and durability of the set. Sony, Panasonic and Pioneer sets are used where I work.

But Samsung SIRT451 ATSC tuners are used to receive the signal for our master control room.

Samsung TVs are cheaper but you get what you pay for when compared to Sony TVs.

I own both. My 15 year old Sony has never been to the repair shop. I can't keep my 2 year old Samsung out of the repair shop. In fact, it's there right now. If the estimate is over $150.00 I'll throw the piece of junk away.

Sony has always been the High Quality manufacturer since the 1960's......

That's why MOST TV stations select Sony for their Control Room monitors...

There are a Few Panasonic monitors, but that's because the station bought the M-Wrap machines back in the '80's as a package deal...they were Fantastic machines, but they didn't catch on....

Anyways, you can trust Sony to not be a piece of junk....

First of all, to the person that said 'that's why TV stations use Sony's in there control room'. What does that have to do with anything?, the person asking the quesion isn't running ESPN or ABC. To answer your question, I have a Samsung 50 inch Plasma, it is excellent. I haven't had a Sony TV, but I would definatly recommend Samsung.

Obviously people haven't seen the Sony and the Samsung side by side. Samsung has an extremely vivid picture. If you look at a 1080 Samsung your jaw will drop.

I agree with the above statement about BOSE. Nothing beats it!

They're both pretty good... Sony, I'd say though... Or Sharp... I just got a Shap Aquos, which is quite nice.
