Hi there. If you look at this diagram showing the computer connections to other equipment you should be right.

I am assuming you want to use the surround sound. all you reall need is the right video card for your computer. If your DVD player has an S-video IN, it is resonably inexpensive to get a video card for your computer that has and S-video OUT. I hook my laptop up to my surround sound to listen to digital music, but I use an adapter that plug into the head phone jack that goes into the computer, and two (one right, one left) audo RCA jack that connects to my surround sound. This only cost under $5. Of course, I am just listening to music, and do not require the full surround sound experience.

If the DVD surround sound system has a coaxial digital audio input, then yes. Connect a cable from the orange RCA jack on your sound card (I'm assuming you have a sound card with 5.1 output) to the digital audio input on the DVD surround sound system. Select "digital in" as the sound source and you should be in business.

ahh i know there is a way to do that, but you need a special driver and cord and its has nothing to do with usb or a dvd player, it just has rca on one end, but if all your interested in is music, you can buy a standard cable from a dollar store that plugs into your speaker output, and the other end is right/left speaker
