Why is it in windows vista under “security” “group or user names”?
There are names that I have no idea where they came from?
Such as “INTERACTIVE” “uuid:1000000-0000-02000-0121a785d”
With permission like read & execute and read? These boxes are checked?
Should I worry about this?

It says Microsoft visual C++ runtime library and then a program file and other stuff. I don't know why this is happening. It happened when I tried to open a word document I sent to myself because I needed it later at a different computer and I couldn't do anything with the document because it made me click "ok" to the error then the document closes.. Its happened before, I can't recall what for but I remember the error. Please if you can give me any info on this error or how I can fix it. It would be greatly appreciated.

In display properties and where it has themes, desktop,screen savers,appearance, and settings...how do i remove some ot the pictures that are under desktop ....I just want the original pictures in there , somehow i got some pictures of friends that ended up in there..(Do u know what i am talking bout?) lol i hope so....

I recently ordered a copy of Ubuntu Linux and it's still with me though I haven't started using it. I am going to get a laptop pretty soon( right now I have a desktop with Windows XP) and wish to use both Windows XP and Ubuntu Linux on the same Laptop...I am planning to get a 160 GB hard disk for the laptop and someone told me that it can be done by partitioning the hard disk into two parts one with XP , one with Ubuntu Linux. My question is that this guy who told me about the partitioning also told me that the computer becomes highly unstable and the chances to crash are more as compared to one OS on one computer if two operating systems are there on a single computer , is this true?

i have it on a floppy disk and the computer i need to use it on does not have a floppy so is there a way to get it to boot from a cd with those files on it? i tried copying the floppy to a cd but haven't been able to get it to auto boot. isn't there a way to just go into command prompt and make it execute the .exe file? i no how to use command promt but forgot how to get to it outside of windows when the machine first boots.

The program is a SUPER old application called "hyperlink" for the mac. It's probably older than me. But anyway, it simulates genetic crossing of dominant/recessive alleles in different animals that you can choose (goldfish, hamsters, angelfish, etc.) I have windows and I don't know if I'd even be able to use it, but if there's a copy somewhere a website I'd never find, I'd like its location to be given to me. Thanks.

Where can I find a piece of software which can schedule certain files to be started at certain times. For example, it should be able to start the playing of an mpeg at a specified time and then stop it at a specified time and switch to a powerpoint show.

I would perfer if such a program was free or inexpensive (under $50).
