i have a old compac presario computer. i have the four restore discs. when i insert the first disc nothing happens. i try to open the disk through my computer and it just opens the disk files and there isnt anything that will start the process. how do i start the restore process?

i have corel paint shop 9 and XI and i cant install any of them on my computer.... when i try to install it... everything runs well until it gets to "registering modules" and then it freezes! on BOTH versions... i could understand if one disk got messed up but both? no... i keep my CDs in PERFECT condition...

if anyone has any idea.... well, i would appreciate it SOOO much. thank you.

Can anyone tell me what is the difference between Mp3 and Mp4. Is it really worth "changing" the music to Mp4? Can you "change" existing Mp3 music to Mp4? What program do you need? I use Media Monkey and iTunes. I have 5500 songs on my pc. Not very clued up on these things. Thank you

I have had this long arguments with two friends. One swears by iTunes, the other by Media Monkey. I tried both, get angry with one, install the other and so it went on. Eventually I found that I get on best with Media Monkey. It is a small program, sorts your music nicely, no problems. Only thing it does not do is have the option to show a list of the duplicate files. That I have to search for myself on Media Monkey. Anyone out here agree with me on Media Monkey that it is good and can anyone tell me whether there is a newer FREE version that Media Monkey 2.1

We all hear of SPYWARE software to remove the spyware. Adware can be just as annoying if not more so. Can anyone recommend a good adware program to deal with adware??

I want a program to prevent people using my portable drive when they take mine to plug in. so Whenever the portable usb drive plug into the pc usb port, and they don't know a password then they can't access it.

Also curious about other linux distributions. In windows, you double (left) click on icons to open files/folders, single click on links in web pages, and if you right click you get a menu. Also you can drag and drop with the left mouse button, select text/images, etc. Is any of this different in Ubuntu?

I ve been using Limewire recently to download stuff,with no
problem.But suddenly since yesterday the quality of my connection has worsened.Well,actually my connection is lost.
The program says I have no internet connection (which is false,as
you can understand,since I m posting this here) or I have a Firewall installed that causes problems to Limewire (which I have,
but Limewire is allowed to operate,and also that was no problem the days before yesterday).
What do you think is the problem and what can I do???

Well, I major in chemistry but I love fashion and design, I often use Illustrator to draw pics. I'm wondering do people who study science use Macs? Personally I would prefer Mac cuz it is friendly and simple.

I went into control panel, then display then settings and changed the dpi settingd from 96 to 120 , I can here that everything is loading correctly on my system, yet I cant see anything.... the video goes out as soon as windows starts to load, I have been pulling my hair out trying to change it back blind, running a system with same OS next to it and counting the key strokes to get to same point, but nothing is working... I absolutely can not just wipe this HDD as it has all of my wifes dead mothers pics on it, the only ones she has of her.... she would be very upset if we lost all of those pics , as the camera that they where taken on was stoledn a few months ago......someone please help me save her moms pics.... I dont want to live with a woman that is as upset as she will be if we lose these pics

Why do web pages load so slow on my sony vaio. A friend has a Dell with less memory and hers loads much faster. We both use the same I.S.P. Would having to many saved favorited cause this?
I always delete history, cache, etc. except for cookies. Using I.E. 7
Any advise would be appreciated. Thank You

I could pay $50 to Norton for software to do this, but it seems as though I could just do this myself very easily with some direction. Best answer gets chosen based on ease/success of the answer.
