Also curious about other linux distributions. In windows, you double (left) click on icons to open files/folders, single click on links in web pages, and if you right click you get a menu. Also you can drag and drop with the left mouse button, select text/images, etc. Is any of this different in Ubuntu?

I am definitely going to get a linux operating system, but I want the one that is the closest to the look and feel of windows as I can get. Mouse function is one of my main concerns, as it would take me a long time, and more patience and discipline than I posess to get used to MAC-like mouse function. (I've tried using MACs before...baaaaad experiences.)

Yeah it's pretty much the same.

It's pretty much the same, though if you hit the middle button it will paste the last text you highlighted. It drives me crazy to use a Windows computer and use the slower ctrl c ctrl v keys. Linux has the old copy and paste hot keys too.

Good sources for LINUX info:

Always mention that you are a linux newbie - this way you will get less complex answers.
