i found something about fixing a hanging screensaver but i dont know where i can locate the registry key.

Hey guys, I'm looking to reformat my windows XP machine (by just reinstalling windows all over again), but the problem is I lost the windows XP installation CD that came with the computer. I do have another XP computer that i have the disk for, though.

My question is, is there any way to retrieve the windows key from my computer (the one I'm looking to reformat), write it down, then when i re-install i can just type it in again? Isn't this the key that shows up when you right click on my computer? Thanks in advance.

Any help is appreciated.

I just want to customize my computer a little and I saw some really cool skins. In order for them to work I downloaded themexp and that was only like a 20 day trial so then I downloaded windowsblinds and thats a 60 day trial too. Does anyone know a program that is absolutely free, no 20 or 30 trial bull, just a program that is absolutely free and will never ask you for money.

i have to solve a math problem in which it gives the names of 15 people and of 7 different books and then gives 14 different conditions about who read what book and i have to find out who read what book. the conditions are very complicated and i need to know if there is any way to input the data into Excel or Access and then set the conditons for the data and have it solve the problem for me. Ok, here's the deal. I've got a scratched up cd. Ripped it to my computer. On the individual songs that are scrateched up, is there a program that will take that scratch out digitaly? Someway or another find the song online, take the section, and replace over the digital scratch? If not, i'm going to be pissed off, cause somone will see this and decide to make a program to do it. I'm a scatterbrain and lose things easily, so as part of a quest to stay organized I am planning to scan tons of notebook paper pages with blue lines. The blue lines scan to a fairly dark color and are especially obnoxious because it is graph paper, not horizontal-ruled paper, that I am scanning.

The file size of the scanned images is HUGE, even after I reduce the resolution and convert to gray scale. I think part of this is due to the stray flecks of color, as well as the lines, which don't scan nice and cleanly, but instead scan irregularly, which leads to a large jpg size (I'm saving in jpg format, not zip, because zip seemed to create even larger files).

I tried scanning directly into Acrobat 5, but ended up with a 16MB file instead of a 4.5MB file when I combined 3 pages that are supposed to be a single file.

Any ideas? I am surprised because PDFs usually have a small file size, but these are coming up as between 0.5 and 1MB each.

I am using a CanoScan LiDE 60 scanner.

I have Windows 2000 installed on my desktop and had to reinstall the OS after it was damaged. I was trying to reinstall the OS completely, but the first OS was obviously repaired and the attempted reinstall was installed independent of the first. I want to remove the second and free up some HD space.

I tried once and ended up with 2 opertaing systems on it, so everytime I start up, it asks which system I want to use. Actuually, I really only want to delete the old system, and leave the new one alone, since I already installed a bunch of things on the new one.
