The best I've found is Exact Audio Copy. This little gem reads the cd track several times to make sure it's perfect. I started using it several years ago when I had an old Def Leopard disc that was scratched really badly. It wouldn't play at all and no other software could do anything with it. I tried over 20 and EAC was the only one that worked. I keep an updated copy and use it for all my cd ripping.
Give it a try. It works like the proverbial charm.
