Software - November 2006

I know it's a simple step but have not done so in years and I have a new attorney where I work and has to do so.

I don't buy things online, and have tried various free-trials of conversion software, but does anyone know of any good conversion freeware I can find online? One that doesn't give you only 2 weeks to try, or that only converts 50% because it's a trial?

I need to convert files to and from: mov, wmv, avi, divx, flv, etc....
and be able to adjust the bpm, frame rate and such.

Please, anyone have an idea?

So here is an update.. tried everything everyone has suggested - thanks all- still wont let me connect to i.e so that means i cannot use msn or yahoo messanger. but i can load web pages using mozilla..

its driving me mad!

My MS Word has started to run incredibly slow (typing, scrolling, everything) in the last few days. It happens even when there are no other windows open and no programmes running. It seems that this is affecting Word only, as internet explorer etc are ok for now. Checked the taskbar and the only actual programe running in the bacground is my ADSL. I have Windows XP and my virtual memory is 288mb.

Could this be connected to the fact that I have 1GB of music on my laptop as well as a large quantity of photographs? (a big no no, I imagine). Other than that, I don't have any fancy programmes and have recently un-installed Skype and Norton (as they were slowing down my laptop) and it sped up since, only to have Word playing up now.

I have a Pentium !!! 1.13 Ghz with 384 mb of ram intel motherboard pc is 3 years old. I tried to install it from the live cd but it stoped the installation when i reached 51% the next time it stoped at 50% and so on. I think the cd rom is not installing it well and it heat up very quikly when I install ubuntu but for other operations it works well such as to installing windows XP.
can i copy the setup to a 1 Gb usb drive and boot it as primary and install ubuntu to my pc.

My camera takes pictures of about 1.6 mb but after ive saved it in photoshop it goes to about 190-ish kb... as much as I enjoy the extra file space I can't help but wonder if this is reducing the resolution and quality of my pictures...

recently whenever i log o to my computer of click on any icon associated with microsoft office, the pop comes saying "the entry point could not be located in the dynamic link library USER32.DLL" what does this mean and how can i fix this problem.? because of this none of the applications like microsoft excel, word, powerpoint are working. can this be repaired??
