So here is an update.. tried everything everyone has suggested - thanks all- still wont let me connect to i.e so that means i cannot use msn or yahoo messanger. but i can load web pages using mozilla..

its driving me mad!

I Need i/e because It wont let me access yahoo msng or msn mesngr. Since downloading ie7 and i cant access any msn so deleted ie7 back ie6 but still cannot get msn get error messages (check my last questions for further info)

I have also reinstalled both msn and yahoo, etc, checked firewall etc.. as i said i am hitting my head against a wall, nothing seems to work.

loathed to reinstall win xp as i have othersoftware (excell etc) that i have installed and already registered so dont want to lose that

Again, lets not forget that ie7 is a beta and it still has a lot of bugs to fix. Go ahead n uninstall ie7. then reinstall yahoo or msn if necessary.

If you have the win xp cd, then just repair the installtion files. This should be done after you uninstall ie7. Doing the repair will reinstall ie6 back.

make msn your default home page open tools tab open Internet options click general tab click on use default or add msn home go to bottom click apply.see if that helps.you can also on same page go to program es tab open lower down click reset web setting a window will open and give you option of going back to original setting click ok go to bottom and click apply.good luck.ebo

that's fucked up...but why do you need ie 6/7 in the first place? have you tried just deleting the version you have and then downloading a new vers.? If that doesn't help, firefox is always a good alternative...

Well u may have a the corrupted program files or configurations...
Goto ur windows\inf folder
and locate ie.inf
right click on it and select install and u r done...
u may need ur os installation disc.......
