One of my friends started screwing around with my Mac Ibook G4 and now every time i start up or want to install anything new, i need to enter my password.

Specifically: how do I eliminate this from happening? I've already tried deleting the password in the System Preferences > Users (it tells me first that anyone could access my computer, and then it tells me my password is too short and i need to set a new one); and i've also tried fiddling with the whole automatic login option, to no avail.

I'm not too literate on Mac, as you can plainly see, but i think that i've tried just about every option on every menu in the system.

Any ideas?

I've been reading reviews about Internet Explorer beta 3 and it sounds attractive. However, I am really attached to my Yahoo! toolbar and McAfee's SiteAdvisor BHO. For those who have made the switch to IE 7 beta 3, have you had any problems with your BHO's after making the switch?

I have a new cpu that I bought a great discount--however it only has Windows XP home edition on it. The salesmen advised me it does not have MSWord or MS Office on it. I have my old Microsoft Office XP Small Business CDs which came with the old computer bundle. What I want to know is: Can I just download the Word and/or Office programs from the CD; if that will even work because of the new CPU's preprogrammed XP home; and/or can I or should I just put everything on the old CD onto the new one, and how exactly do I do any and all of this?

hi, i'm watching this japanese movie i downloaded that i thought already has subs.

it DOES but the subs happen to be spanish and is already in the avi-file-mathingy. so i went searching to download the english subs of it and tried to watch the movie with the english subs in my VLC player with vobsub. BUT the english subs do show but it overlaps the spanish subs which is still there, and i just have no way to get rid of the spanish subs permanetly.

what do i do? DD: i don't want to edit it in any ways but just get rid of it.

I used to run it...my wife sent me the link and I installed it and it ran fine.....recently I got a new PC, with Windows XP (if that matters) and now I can't get the search button to lite up. It just doesnt seem to kick in. I know its still a working program cause it works at my job and that PC is old as s*^t. Anyone have any thoughts as to what I can do? I liked Kazaa lite cause it had absolutely no spyware or anything and I never had a problem running it in the past. My wifes doesnt seem to work anymore either? Could that have something to do with anything???

I can't get off this menu. Some options cause immediate reboot. Sometimes I get the windows logo screen, then it restarts.

I'm looking for a piece of software that is like Citrix Presentation Server, or Microsoft Terminal Server where many users can connect simultaneously to a server and they each see their own desktop. I'm looking for mainly open source, or very cheap software that can do this.

I've just bought a new laptop (never had one before) and it was advertised that it came with Windows XP professional. It was already installed on my laptop, but it doesn't have word or excel on it! Surely Windows XP professional should come with basic things like word?? Does anyone know anything about this kind of thing? Please help!!

I haven't heard anything about it and I watched people play it and it looked fun but I'm worried about it since you have to download it instead of playing in java/shockwave. Has anyone found problems with it or know of how I can find out without downloading it because there is no agreement/readme till it's downloaded so I wanna know...

If I save a picture as a BMP it used more space than the same picture if I save it in JPEG. Why is that? Does the BMP have a lot better resolution or what? I just looked at the same picture saved as a BMP and it's 1.3MB; the JPEG of the same picture is 553KB.
