Help! I can't open my control panel on my computer. It is windows XP, not professional edition. The problem I am having is that I can click on the Icon and have it show up, but an error message shows up right after the window opens that says "windows explorer has encountered a problem and has to close." then it apologizes. It happens every time I try to open Control Panel. The reason I need to open it is that I need to delete a user because it is slowing down my computer. If anyone knows a shortcut to open the users icon in control panel, that would also help. I have tried to get to control panel from the start menu, desktop, shortcuts, my computer, and almost everything else.

I was looking at a DVD player on the internet and read in the description: The DVP642 plays standard DVDs as well as........

I didn't know a "standard" DVD existed yet. Can someone explain this?

Is DVD-R standard or is DVD+R standard? Or are they both considered standard?

How can the industry have two different standards?

This is very confusing to say it plays STANDARD DVD's and then when I drill down to more specs it says it plays DVD+R/RW. I don't think DVD+R is the "standard" DVD....at least not yet.

What's up with this?

I'm looking for software to batch process images and resize them if they are over certain dimensions. Or, if the images are small add white space, or increasing the canvas size of the image. I use PhotoShop but it doesn't apply rules. If I tell it to batch process images and resize them to 500x400 it will increase the size of pictures smaller than that.

I have considered writing a program and using the VIC32.DLL, but it costs $499 to buy the DLL. If somebody knows of another DLL or an application that can resize images only over a set dimension let me know!

Thanks!

When turning on my computer I get the following message "Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM
You can attempt to repair this file by starting Windows setup using the original setup CD Rom. Select 'r' at the first screen to start repair.
I already downloaded the recovery console disks from Microsoft and tried those last night and it still doesn't work. I don't have an Windows XP disk because someone downloaded it for me.

ive deleted the offending file, and everything is ok now,but what makes windows give them messages,is it the software you are using,or is it the operating system,i personally think its the software as if it were the op\system it would continue to do it,but its ok now
