I tried a re-install and because it was'nt clear about overwriting the currently installed program I ended up with two windows programs on comp. One functional , the new one installed and the orginal that does'nt. The problem is that I am now getting the same blue screen errors as i did with the first windows. So I want to wipe hard drive clean and re-install, but can this be done with the disc Dell provided?

I'm about to build a pc for my brother (who lives in another state) and would like to know what software I should install to keep his computer running in top shape, or even programs that are useful, such as paint/pic viewing/burning software, freeware preffered

So far I have:

1. Grisoft AVG Free Edition - (antivirus)
2. Lavasoft Ad-Aware SE Personal - (spyware remover)
3. Spybot Search and Destroy - (spyware remover)
4. Videolan - (plays most video formats)
5. Winrar/Winzip
6. CDburner XPpro 3 - (iso, music, file burning software)

Any additional software suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

Dear all, I would like to copy my spell check of the Word software to another computer. I have tried to copy the custom.dic file . Somehow I can not get it to work. Maybe it is is a problem that the other Word is in a different language. Thanks

why is my computer freezing alot ? specialy when i go to certain websites, and myspace. and its so frustrating when we restart it. we clean it and scann it for viruses but nothing seems to help. what could it be is their some thing we could do.? please help.

My new laptop only had a 6 month trial version of Office and now all my word & excel docs are read only. Cheap or what? I need to access them but dont have the £250 to get them from M'soft. Please help!

A long time ago, my dad deleted a harddrive partition that I now believe had Office 2003 installation files and whatnot on it. Since then, I'm unable to repair my Office programs. My toolbar settings don't stay saved. My Norton Security doesn't work. And I can't even log into Yahoo email or any other https sites. Help!

I've used Regedit and seen that many programs have things pointing to this nonexistent drive. But when I look on the C drive, these files don't exist. What do I do?

Can I just delete these files and hope that the programs reset them up? Or do I just change the drive and point them to files that don't exist on my C drive? I know nothing of changing the registry and really don't want to screw anything up. But in the meantime, my daughter is using MY computer all the time, and that totally sucks. Help!!

BTW: It's been so long that System Restore isn't an option because that restore point doesn't exist.

I used to use a program called Midisoft MusicMagic, and the works-in-progress files were saved with a *.sng and *.mus extension. I'd like to convert them to actual MIDI files to be accessible through my current MIDI notation software program.
