Ok, there could be a number of reasons its freezing up. First, it could still be a virus on there. Just because you run an anti virus doesn't mean it cleaned them all. Some have to be removed manually. Second, it could be that you're bogged down with spyware and adware. BHO's attach themselves to your IE and also slow you down. Third, have you defragmented your hard drive? Finally, it could be that your computer hard drive doesn't have enough RAM. A gig of random access memory will give the appearance of a faster computer. I am enclosing a link for some FREE spyware. If you do not have it, download it, run it until its clean, and see what speed you pick up. Good luck!

Well I am amazed that someone has the individuality and the intelligence to even raise the issue. Yes, there is something you can do. Believe me, this is not acceptable.
Please remind all your suppliers of this. They have been slowly getting away with this for at least ten years! Not only with you. With most PC users. The slow changes mean that it has been so gradual that people have blamed themselves or personal ignorance, and it has been a very deliberate corporate decision all along - for ten years. I work in the industry and have tried to change it but the customers don't care so they are not about to do anything about your problem. But, Yes, there is something you can do:
Email every download site. Ask your suppliers to improve their service to people like you, using the tools you are using.
If they say it's Adobe Acrobat, ask them to give you a faster option.
If they say it's your version, ask them to give people with your version the option to select a faster track.
If they say it's your PC: Say - so What? That means that everyone Else who bought that PC has the Same issue - what are They doing to adapt to that?
Insist that they make every upgrade of their choice "Backwardly Compatible".
This is an industry standard which means that - in case you weren't looking for the last fifteen years - Any change or upgrade to Their operating system has to work well with YOUR system, whether or not you choose to buy extra memory and upgrade with them. Good companies do this. Bad companies do what you, out of all the people here who don't have the self-esteem to comment - have noticed. Good for you.
As a computer user, you have a duty to yourself not to settle for this.
I'll say that again - in case any user has gone into another fifteen year-coma. Remember it this time - tell them, out loud - that:
"Backwardly Compatible" is an industry standard which means that Any change or upgrade to Your operating system has to Work well with MY system.
Whether or not We choose to buy extra memory and upgrade with you - or Anyone else.
This doesn't work for Our system. We are your customer. Only for now. The minute we find a company which respects that, we are switching to them. We can put that in writing to your CEO - and we will.

More than likely it's spy/ad ware. try scanning with Ad Aware SE. It's free and and can be downloaded from lavasoft's homepage or download.com. Also delete all cookies and Temporary Internet Files. And an online virus / spyware scan at trendmicro would be good too. All of these are free.

you might want to try defragmenting your computer using a utility such as Diskeeper
also, what is your connection speed? are you on dialup, especially since myspace is such a slow site, even for people on T3 connections
you might wanto check how much RAM you have...if you have 256 or under your definitely in trouble
also, go to your start menu, click the run command
now type in services.msc and browse through those and see which ones are unnecessary,
if you are not very computer savvy you may want to get someone who is to help you with what i said

Try adding some more RAM to your computer. Also, try not to use the websites that make your computer freeze. These websites will send small programs to your comptuer without your knowledge. May suggest a good free firewall, like zone alarm.
A good firewall will prevent websites from sending to your comptuer programs that you do not know are being installed on your comptuer

Assuming you have a fairly new computer (about a year or two old) and good internet speed...try defragmenting the computer and do a spyware scan too. (See source.)
And by "clean", do you mean with programs or a vacuum cleaner/duster/air can? Because I also suggesting dusting the computer inside if you haven't since dust is bad for your computer hardware. Dusting has helped my computers many times. :)

Check u have enough memory....Which processor u are using? If it p4 or equivallent, try to avoid unwanted programs or antivirus softwares. install McA fee antivirus, upgrade and try to scan for spy or adware. It is better than Norton i think.
At last u can try to format and re-install the hard drive.
