In my firefox browser I see a quick time logo where there should be flash content why?

You have quicktime associated with that type of file, so it opens in QT by default.

Quicktime can open some flah movie so it associates itself with flash movie when installed. But if you have flash installed then usually it does not happens. If you don't have flash installed install flash, or if you have installed the try reinstalling flash.
