Other - Computers - November 2007

I've got around 20GB of photos and would like to make a backup. I've saved them in DVDs, in external hard disks, in my computers... But I just don't feel secure.

Is there any other way? How about the internet?

They have gone from E and I believe F, to K & L. Before I have someone work on it, is there a way I can correct this myself?

My computer just started freaking out.

The little menu that pops on when you right click the mouse began flashing on and off even though I didn't click it.

The start menu at the bottom came on as well as the all programs part then flashed off then back on over and aver again. The screen was flashing and bouncing up and down.
It ended now but was really freaky.
And my mouse cursor keeps stopping in mid motion.

Any ideas to what is wrong?

I have not been able to properly use the Wal-Mart.com site since Saturday night. Seems crazy to me that a company such as Wal-Mart would be having so much trouble with their site right before Christmas.

On Saturday, I could access the site but many pictures of product were not coming up. Now, I cannot access the site at all. All other sites are perfectly accessible.

And before you make fun of me shopping on Wal-Mart.com, I am looking for a bike for my son! LOL

k i bought a new computer upstairs in my room but it didn't come with microsoft word so i cant type my essays but my computer downstairs has microsoft word. is there a way to transfer the microsoft word from downstairs to my computer upstairs??? i cant type it from the downstairs one because the internet doesnt work and even if i fix it it is soooooo slow. So am i wrong, or is it possible to write files (Pictures / Music etc) to a DVD. Because a dvd can store 4.7gb of info', i thought it would be better than using 700mb cd's.

My computer has excessive amounts of popups [innappropriate ones] and it runs extremely slowly. I know there is something wrong with it. I have Windows XP and its on a laptop. I do not have the restore CD. Is there any other way I can restore my computer to the way it was when I first got it without having to make a purchase?

when i try to start my other windows labtop it just promps me to start in safe mode, normal, etc. no matter what i choose, the computer just restarts.

when i boot my pc from windows xp disk and install the setup files to the installation folder, and already formatted and partitioned, it restarts and instead of goin into windows xp setup in windows, it restarts the windows (dos) installation and goes to the part that i have already completed, like nothing has happened, im wondering wether the hard drive has some sort of malfunction or the disk is mucked up but the first installation comes back up like i have put the disk in for the first time.

My old computer runs XP and my new one is Vista. I have both an external hard drive and my Vista has wireless connection to my old computer (tho the connection is very fickle).
What I would like to know is what's the easiest way to do this and literally what do I click (start -> program -> etc.) to get all my files form one computer to the next. Thanks!
P.S. we are getting our first snowfall right now and i am so happy i just had to share :D
