k i bought a new computer upstairs in my room but it didn't come with microsoft word so i cant type my essays but my computer downstairs has microsoft word. is there a way to transfer the microsoft word from downstairs to my computer upstairs??? i cant type it from the downstairs one because the internet doesnt work and even if i fix it it is soooooo slow. HELPPP MEEEEE!!!!

You cannot transfer it to another computer. When it was installed and activated, Microsoft took the product key, mixed it with information about the computer, and combined these numbers to form an "installation ID" - this will not match any other computer.

You can download Open Office, freeware, and compatible with Word. You can then convert it, free, online, at

Okay, calm down for one. The world isn't going to end. Microsoft word is not transferable. It is a program that has anti-copying and anti-piracy rules in the software. You will havde to buy the Microsoft Office 2003. Not only will you get Word, but you'll get Powerpoint, Excel, Access, Outlook, and other programs. I am sorry, but you cannot copy the program from your other computer since it was already installed. I am not trying to knock your buying decisions, but why did the salesman give you a computer without the programs that you need? Thats just plain terrible. Have a great evening.

no you cant transfer the program, but windows comes with word pad, its handy, or download open office-free, its just like ms office. has a word processer in it.
