btm? do you mean bmp?

1) jpg is good for photos and for posting photos on the web.

2) png is good for screenshots of your desktop and so forth. Also, websites use png for their buttons and graphics.

3) gif is falling in popularity and being replaced by png for buttons and website graphics.

3) bmp is not good for much except for taking a lot of space on your hard drive.

4) btm is not one i've heard of

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. It depends what you want to use it for. I assume you mean BMP, not BTM. That format retains the exact pixel data as originated. A JPG will be one tenth the size, but it does that by not keeping the exact same pixel data. The final size of a JPG can vary depending on how close to the original data you want it to be. This is usually called the quality setting when saving the JPG file.

I assume you mean .bmp.

.btm is a Norton file extension and not an image format.

To answer your question, .jpg is better. It is the best format for photos, whereas .bmp is more for graphics.
