so currently i have dial up internet. have an older government issue computer which requires an external plug & play modem to connect. i recently moved and at my old house(which was much older than the one i am in now), i always connected at 56.0 kbps9which is what my modem is. at my new apartment, it varies from 4.0 kbps to 23.0 kbps & every once in a while it will connect at 56.0 kbps. also, it continuously disconnects from the net, or says cannot display webpage. i have heard everything from the phone lines are too old to your modem is not working right. i believe my phone lines are fairly new, and as for my modem-if it is not working right then it must be broke because i have tried everything short of plating it in gold. i am fed up with it, so i signed up for high speed cable internet, which is like $30 more than what i am paying for dial up. my question is was this a good idea for me to do this, and is high speed cable internet worth the extra price? Thank you in advance!
