Laptops & Notebooks - July 2007

My computer is about 4 years old it is a Dell. Should it being getting so hot that you can't touch it after only being on for 15 to 20 min. The fan is runing but doesn't seem to being helping.

i just got a new gateway laptop. i was sort of in small amount to spend so i went to best buy and got a gateway for 450. its great since its small and very nice looking what drives me crazy is that it only has 512 MB with a hard drive of 80G. this causes for the laptop to take at least 5 mts to upload and start up, this is bothering me alot so during the weekend i want to take it to wearegolden.com and i would like to know your suggestions on how to get this laptop to be at least normal fast. if you can point out the products in that website i would gladly appreciate it. im running windows vista home edition. thanks!

T2060 Gateway laptop with 1Gb of memory, MAX memory is 2Gb. I can only afford to buy one stick of 1Gb memory. Is installing it bad for my comp?
I will have one 512mg stick and 1Gb stick next to each other. Any forseeen problems with doing this, or does it have to be uniform?

Oh and Windows VISTA sucks A$$ with only 1 Gb of memory

The only difference is that the Intel Centrino is a pre-figured combination of a wireless card and other hardware for laptops, is that right?

So which would be better...say for example, I'm deciding between a Dell laptop with a Core 2 Duo, or a HP laptop with a Centrino Core 2 Duo?

Are laptops with the Centrino name usually cheaper, since the main hardware is Intel's? And would that mean it's quality isn't as good?

I've already had to buy a cooling system. But it does not seem to help but I use that and a fan on the table and it still seems to overheat. I'm under warranty should I call them and make a backup or is this normal?

hi. i have an xp acer aspire 5610 laptop and today the keyboard stopped working. its so weird as i didnt actually lock it or do anything. no keys have a responce and im having to use on screen keyboard.

ive tried these things;
- do virus/spyware scans in safe mod
- system restore to a good date

in the past week its also done an odd thing; when i turn it on sometimes it says preparing to shutdown, logging off....

K so i got this program called imvu,I love to make pictures but the point is that i cant really make big ones,when i press alt+printscreen,doesent work,printscreen,doesent work and i dono what to do,i made a research on google but that didint help,alsow I have this button delete and under it,it says prt sc...which is print screen,im not sure but can someone at least help me,thanks ^^

my windows had just updated and restarted the notebook by itself- i went to restart and log on- i got to the desktop and then shortly therafter- the blue screen of death as my computer friends call it- popped up and told me it was going to dump my physical memmory- i have tried everything to fix this including clearing the hardrive and my notebook is still finding problems- anyone want to take a stab at this?

I got this problem when one day electricity went of when i was busy working with my laptop. After i restarted the computer, i found that when i try to open some programes, the system suddenly crashes, sometimes, freeze, and sometimes shows a blue screen with some information(ofcourse i cannot read it because it vanishes within few seconds). This problem recalls again and again everytime i turn on the computer. First it works for about 5-10 minutes, and freezes. When i give a second try, it crashes in the middle of the loading of windows, and third time, at the boot menu!!!! I tried safe mode and other boot options, none of them worked. So i tried formating, and even there it crashes in the middle of nowhere.
So what is the cause for all this?? is that due to any damge to hardware due to a sudden power loss, is it a problem with the software???? Can any body please give me some ideas, how to try ot correct the problem without going for hardware repairing???

my cuestion is, i need to reformat all my ibook g4 of mac, and i have an ipod video of the 5th generation... my real cuestion is:

the music i storage on my ipod, after erase all my music of my laptop, can i upload the music from the ipod to the computer again???? please help!

There is this laptop that im interested in buying. the guy says that the computer wont post when not plugged in but when he plugs it in then only the battery and harddrive light comes on. he didnt list much else but could this problem be fixable.

Hi i am a windows fan!!!!!!
Ok My boss gave me his mac to renstall and he is giving it to the new boos in one week i have no ideia to do this if you know alot about macs that would help it runs 10.3 and has an old prosser i have a disk that will make it work with 9 or somthing dumb like that
