Easiest option first, Update the drivers ... "try to reinstall the drivers from acer (7.12.13) then reboot, then download the latest from synaptics (8.3.4) and install, reboot and see if works"

have you by chance disabled the mouse....press fn then the button on the top with a hand over a rectangle...i had this problem and i thought the comp was a goner but i fixed it

I have one they are crap go out and buy a Logitech keyboard and mouse both wireless marvelous.Around £50 well worth it.
