1. click on the "START" button in the bottom left of your screen
2. find and right click on "My Computer"
3. select "Properties"
4. click on the "Hardware" tab near the top of the pop-up box
5. click the "Device manager" button
6. find "Keyboards" in the new window in the list.
7. if there are no red exclamation points or yellow arrows, the device driver is installed. This means there is either a bad connection or your keyoard just burned out. I'm not sure how to take apart Acer notebooks without first looking at it, but you might try that and making sure the ribbon wire connection is secured. I'm guessing you will need a new keyboard.

I'm not sure why the computer is doing the logging off and shutting down thing you talked about, perhaps you are not turning the comp on correctly, or the computer is asleep and you are pushing/holding down the power button.

Good Luck
