A technician is adding an internal PnP modem to a system, but a check of system resources shows that all available IRQs are reserved or being used by other devices. What could the technician do to get the device to work?

* manually assign the IRQ of another device that is not expected to be used at the same time as the modem
* use trial and error to find an IRQ that will work with the modem
* configure the modem to work without an IRQ
* change CMOS settings to allow the BIOS to free up an unused IRQ
* configure the modem to use a DMA address instead of an IRQ

I called HP and they said in this computer I have 3 PCI slots and one agp slot. Also a nvidia card would work. I don't want to spend alot of money as I don't expect to keep this computer much more than another year. I'm just looking for something better than I have but not real expensive. Any suggestions would be helpful

ok, i am getting an HP computer and a Geforce 8800 GTS OC 320 MB, and the geforce 8800 as you all know is a big card. On the BFG website, they said to make sure that I have a vacant slot below the PCI-E x16 slot. Ok, so I sent HP an email and this is what they sent me:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00906129&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=3377269&lang=en

It is drawn pictures and actual pictures of the motherboard. (Just keep scrolling down). Wasn't that nice? But the problem is I dont know how to read it! Can you guys tell me if I will have enough room for this card? I am trying to educate myself about this stuff before I actually buy it, I dont want to be one of those clueless buyers who has to get an exhange because I didn't know what I was shopping for.

I just built a pretty decent computer. e6400 Core2Duo CPU, XFX 7950GT, 2GB Ram, running on Win XP Pro. I am thinking of buying another 2GB of Ram to make a total of 4GB because I found a good deal for 2GB Ram for only $100. The only problem is I'm not sure if it's worth it, since I think 2GB shoud be enough to handle all the applications these days. Is upgrading to 4GB really going to increase any performance on my computer, or would it be just a waste?

I've been wanting a new graphic card for a while, but I need some info. My desktop is a Gateway 510x.

1. Is there a specific graphic card for this desktop or no?
2. Is there a way to find out if it's VGA or PCI?
3. If there isn't a specific graphic card, would an NVIDIA work?

I have more questions, but for now this is all I want to know.

I'm now using vibra 64 soundcard together with creative cambridge soundworks sw310 speaker and it sounds not bad. But recently i planned to upgrade my soundcard to x-fi extreme music for much better sound quality but still remain using the same speaker. I'm much more serious on listening to music than any other applications. so, is it worth to upgrade? And will my speaker compatible and perform well with the x-fi soundcard?
