Yes indeed. In fact, for me, USB memory sticks are the best thing that's happened in the computer industry since the hard drive. Just plug one into your usb port, and you're ready to go (in most cases, the memory stick shows up as a drive letter in my computer where you can then drag and drop files too). Those little devices have saved me numerous times. Being able to transfer an entire collection of 600 mp3 songs from one computer to another using only a memory stick is breath taking. I've even installed Microsoft Windows XP from a memory stick, it's truly amazing.

If your using it as backup you should try an external hard drive, you can put music, pics, ect on the memory stick but they don't hold much information. I think the largest ones right now are 4GB though in most stores you will probably only find up to 2 GB. This isn't really enough to store music and pics because they take up so much room. You could use the memory stick to move the files just fine, but would probably need alot of them to store all the information depending of course on how much music and how many pics.

Sure just stick your memory stick in the computer USB slot and either drag and drop or click and send. I have done it several times. Then what you want is on the stick for what ever reason you have, and if you loose it on your computer then you can reinstall from the stick.

Yes.
Provided the memory stick is big enough to fit the data.
As a backup medium it is kind of expensive. You could buy a lot of CD-RW disks for the price of a flash drive.
I believe the shelf life of flash memory is about 10 years, so you would want to pull your archives and re-record them before then.

Yes, if it's big enough. At worst you can back up some of it.
