ok, i am getting an HP computer and a Geforce 8800 GTS OC 320 MB, and the geforce 8800 as you all know is a big card. On the BFG website, they said to make sure that I have a vacant slot below the PCI-E x16 slot. Ok, so I sent HP an email and this is what they sent me:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00906129&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=3377269&lang=en

It is drawn pictures and actual pictures of the motherboard. (Just keep scrolling down). Wasn't that nice? But the problem is I dont know how to read it! Can you guys tell me if I will have enough room for this card? I am trying to educate myself about this stuff before I actually buy it, I dont want to be one of those clueless buyers who has to get an exhange because I didn't know what I was shopping for.

Oh, yes. I will be getting a 650Watt Power Supply from BFG. It has two 6-pin connectors. So the case one of you said? Hmm, I'm still learning. So another fan would fix that problem?

And the PCI-x1 slot is vacant but what is that circle next to it?????

it essentially takes up 2 slots ... so if there is a slot directly beside and below it, it will cover it ... where it says "pciex1" if u had somthing in that slot it would have to be removed to plug the card in ...

You should be able to fit the card without any problems as long as it doesn't dip down and hit the white clips that hold your RAM in place (which it shouldn't).

However, open your case and look at how the rest of your components are set up since I have had a problem getting cards to fit in the past because my hard drive bays hang at the end of my motherboard and the wires and such wouldn't allow for a smooth video card install.
If you are still a bit lost, call the manufacturer and ask them for the physical dimension of the card (if the retailer doesn't have that listed somewhere) and measure yourself.

Summary: It should fit as long as nothing occupies your PCIE_X1 slot and you have adequate clearance from other internal components which are probably not physically mounted on your motherboard.

EDIT: I would also recommend you double check the power requirements for your system since it might not have enough power supply to handle a higher end card. Also, check to make sure your power supply has the correct cable to connect to your new graphics card (if applicable) or if your new card comes with an adapter (if needed).

don't worry...
if your buying it from a retail store...
they would know better about the size of graphic cards and the room that it needs.

Looks like the mother board has only 2 pci slots, but is way down there.. so I wouldn't really worry about your graphic card not being able to fit.

Even if your thinking of purchasing the computer and the graphic card separate, I wouldn't worry about it. Looks like it should have plenty of space in the mobo

question you should be asking is

how big is the actual computer case

because if it's a tiny mid tower, and you have all kinds of cables going inside the tiny space
you might be able to fit the graphic card...
but you'll have issues with the air flow.. which might get computer heated up really quick.

You might want to spend some money on fans to cool things a bit if your planning on running your GTS to the limit.

But then again.. you have to question, does my computer have a positive air flow? or negative air flow?....

which means if you have more air going into your computer or air going out more...

....then it becomes a power supply issue.. because normally the only exhaust in the computer is the power supply...

....it just goes on and on like that.

yes... you should have plenty of space for the card... it is very unlikely that there will be a card installed in the PCIE x1 slot which is the small slot below the PCIEx16 slot... so you'll have enough room

It looks like you have enough room there. The card will just be covering the CMOS lithium battery. Don't worry, it might outlast your video card.
