I want to buy a printer that says it requires a Pentium II or compatible processor, 300Mhz. My laptop has an AMD Turion 64 X2 processor. Are these processors compatible so the printer will work on the laptop??

You know when you pull out the power cord on a computer or if you hold down the power button, does it do anything bad, besides maybe loosing anything you did since the last shutdown

But then recently i encountered this problem that whenever i leave my computer unsocketed for hours it just doesnt seem to turn on right (no power at all).. I keep on pressing the power button but it just does not seem to work.. Now all i do is keep the plug socketed for it to be useable.. i cant keep it like that. what if it gets worse, i need help?

My Proview 17" CRT monitor emits an odor when it operates (I've had it for 2 days now). Also, the top of the CRT monitor is HOT. Is this normal or does it indicate a malfunction?

Thank you,
Stephen

NOTE: MY OTHER CRT MONITOR (FOR AROUND 5 YEARS) IS ALSO HOT ON THE TOP, BUT HAS NEVER MALFUNCTIONED (THE TEMPERATURE IS LIKE THE ONE OF MY NEW MONITOR).

I found a nice $25 dollar cooler from Thermaltake TR2 series that looks like a nice improvement over the stock CPU cooler and has copper heat sinks. I have a AMD dual core processor/AM2 motherboard and an ATI X1950XTX video card that has a great heat cooler on it already. I don't overclock anything and play the game at the highest setting I can but never more than 1024X768. For the game Oblivion, I play at 1024X768 with all the other settings on high.

The Question is, will this new heat sink be enough? I don't overclock like I said, so will this be sufficient?

In theory, If in some computers were a Graphic card isnt located, then the graphics cards purpose is handled by your computers RAM, so in theory if you dont have a GFX card.. your computer does its job, and your computer... again in theory, has far more memory than your graphic card, so is it possible to have my computer handle my Games with greater performence, probably at the loss of quality.

Heres the story, Ive had this pc Ive made for about 4 months with no issues. Today without reason my PC has decided to no longer boot up. No Post, No Beep, No Nothing. Ive tested out the psu, its still working fine. Tried resetting bios thru jumpers, that didnt work. Tried removing battery for CMOS, that didnt work. Any ideas of how to get this thing to even show me anything yet alone the bios screen? BTW I havent installed anything new software wise or hardware wise lately to affect this so Im kinda stumped on this one.

I have an older laptop, a Compaq Armada m700, and a couple years ago it stopped running the desktop. In other words, it could start and run, but it would get to the desktop or somewhere in the booting phase and just stop working. I don't have an install disk for it, so I can't wipe it.

Well, since then I have gotten a WinXP laptop and am using that for Games and such, but I believe that it is a software problem and not a hardware issue. So, I thought maybe I could install a version of Linux on it to give it new life.
I guess what I'm really asking is Can I install Linux on the laptop and use it instead of 98, even though 98 doesn't work? (Kind of install Linux from a disk like an install disk)
