MacBook definitely. With the new Intel Macs you can boot in Windows if there are specific apps that is only available for Windows.

The two you are asking about are very, very different. Macs are generally safer internet-wise because fewer people have them. They are also known to be more reliable computers, whereas generally speaking, more problems tend to arise on computers with Windows.

Choosing Windows, however, will pretty much give you access to just about whatever you want. Mac users usually have to wait for later versions of a product to come out in order to get it. If you're into PC games, there are far more games made for Windows computers than for Macs and in most cases, choosing Windows will give you more bang for the buck. Apples tend to get pricey when you're looking for the extra RAM and harddrive space.

Another deciding factor might be support. Dell support is overseas and many people say it's hard to get the help you want, not to mention over the phone and in a heavy foreign accent. If you decide to get a Macbook, I'd reccommend buying the ApplePlan, which will give you 3 years of support with people you can better understand over the phone.

I have a Macbook myself, and if you get Microsoft Office for Mac, I don't see any reason why a Macbook would be just as fine as a Dell at schoolwork. And if you buy a little extra software, you can run both Mac OS and Windows XP off of your Mac, and then be able to switch between the two.

Internet downloading is faster on a PC than a Mac. There is far more eye candy on a Mac than a PC. Windows makes secure internet networking a nightmare if you don't know what you're doing. And lastly, if you are looking at Windows Vista, the OS is enormous, so you should not buy a laptop with any less than 1gb of RAM.

I've had experience with both types and I'm sure either would do a splendid job with school work once the proper software is purchased. School is what I use my Macbook for. I hope this helps.

P.S. The new Mac OS "Lepard" comes out in October. If you're choosing the Apple, it might be worth you're wait to buy it then.

THe MacBook will be better here. First of all, there is no malware to worry about. Also, Mac OS is far more stable and reliable than Windows. Mac OS is also is far superior to Windows in features and eye candy. Finally, as you pointed out, Macs are far better for creative stuff than Windows PCs.

i could flow with the Dell. The ipod and and student shrink fee are super, yet together as i purchase a working computing gadget or laptop i purchase it for the final overall performance no longer for all of the stuff that could or will probable no longer contain it. i'm unsure what rubbish you're speaking approximately the two. extremely placed, the Dell is an extra constructive laptop, at a shrink fee. i've got have been given had 2 Dell's and below no circumstances as quickly as had a topic rely.
