I almost always compress my music files before I attach them as an email. I never have a problem with uncompressing. I do a lot of music production and editing across the country with other artist

I guess ur not a professional user
so for u , u will not be able to make out the deterrence
in sound files
and photos or anything for that matter
but actually people are proving that compressing doesn't affect anymore after windows they themselves have made it available from windows xp onwards...

Images will be affected.
easiest way is to make a compressed folder, then drag and drop the files you want compressed.
Works best for files you do not need to open all of the time.

Its good to compress just to save space. However you wont lose quality in the file or anything. But in my opinion its a waste because it doesn't save that much space.

no you won't do any damage to the files as long as you use a credible program. Winzip is a good compression program.
