my computer has a virus. how doi get rid of it without spendinga lot of money. or maybe even for free?

i keep gettin pop ups, not respondin windows, and files download by themselves like some mirar toolbar.

i downloaded AVG anti spyware but i still get pop ups. Really need some help

Here is a free anti-spyware tool by Microsoft and it does real-time scanning/blocking which you won't find in most free anti-spyware solutions..

Sounds like adware/spyware. Do you have any antivirus or antispyware?

AVG and Avast are free antivirus.
Spybot Search and Destroy and Adaware are free antispyware (though they only scan, not block)

Get one of the av's and the antispywares, and run scans. Hope it works. If not, try spysweeper with antivirus (paid product) or spyware doctor (also paid).

If the free stuff doesn't work and you don't want to spend any money, restore your system to like new with your recovery set. Backup your data first; you'll lose it on the restore.
