The program will most likely run but it will be very slow and sluggish. I don't think it's worth the experience, really. I would suggest upgrading to 512MB.

The program would work, since your computer has virtual memory, but it will run a lot slower than if you had the actual mount of physical memory. Since virtual memory is paged on your Hard Drive, it can probably still be run. Try to close most of your programs when using it, except the important ones like firewalls and anti-virus programs, then it might run a little faster. A stick of 512MB of RAM goes pretty cheap nowadays, think about adding one on if your computer has extra slots. I buy all of my RAM at www.newegg.com. Hope this helps you out.

When a program requires 512MB Memory it means that your system memory needs to be 512MB. If your system only has 256MB you will need to upgrade your memory before using that program.

Good Luck

While it depends a lot on the program that you're speaking of, generally speaking you don't *need* as much memory as is recommended--as long as you can tolerate the decrease in speed that you will likely experience.
