Trying to figure out if buying 800x600 lcd projector is a bad choice. My primary use is going to be just plain Powerpoint presentation and occasional movie watching.

Given these Expansion Capabilities (Specifically for PCIe) for a motherboard 975x:


One Primary PCI Express* x16 (electrical x16 or x8) bus add-in card connector
One Secondary PCI Express* x16 (electrical x8) bus add-in card connector
One PCI Express* x16 (electrical x4) bus add-in card connector

I understand that x for PCIe means: 100 / 200 MB/s of bandwidth. and 4 , 8 , 16 multiplies this amount.

But what does "Electrical x16 and x8 ..." in parentheses mean?

I want to use the full potential of the motherboard capabilities for graphics. If you just tell me what does "Electrical x16 and x8 ..." means, that might be helpful

I'm needing a new computer and my actual computer's parts are too old to be recylced, so i was wondering what's cheaper to buy parts and build them myself o buy a branded computer from hp, dell or some dealer?

i would want something like this:
250 GB HD
2 GB RAM ( 4GB would be best)
17'' monitor
DVD burner
nice graphic card (don't know much about these so i don't put numbers or models)
and a core 2 duo processor (not as fast as to rip a big hole in my wallet, but fast enough to work with video editing in Standard Definition)

This happened when I tried to install a video card. I normally have a NVIDIA Geforce 6150 which is integrated in the motherboard. Now the computer will get to that Safe mode selection screen but will freeze on any of the options.

My computer is a HP Pavilion a1600n. I was installing a PCI Express video card. I'm using WIndows XP.

Is there a way to recover the information I had on the drive? Thanks!

If a site can track you by your IP does your IP always stay the same? Is there a way to change it? If you are on a laptop on a wireless connection is your IP different depending on where you are linking up? Does it vary by WI-FI network? If I am at home would my IP change if I went through another link than I usually connect through?

Planning out a new computer, leaning towards a 3.0ghz 1333fsb system (Dell XPS 420). Since Windows typically can't handle more than 3.2gb of ram (unless your running an OS 64), which is better.

I do alot of gaming so this is my priority when it comes to quicking hardware components.

I'm assuming the 3gb at 800 would be better for the fact that the speed is closer to the bus speed on the system and since windows can't handle 4gb to begin with, am I correct in this?

I appreciate all the help tremendously. 10 points to the best answer within a day or two.

Can any suggest which IT certification is the wisest to pursuit first? I was thinking of investing time and money to obtain a MCSE 2003 but not sure if that is the wisest, now that Microsoft will release a new server OS in the 2008. also i would like to add that the ezcool one is much cheaper and the other two are 2x more than the previous one. i currently have a 550w psu. r they worth the extra cash??

Im redoing my home network. Currently I use a Linksys wifi router.

I now Have a server and the router I have doesnt have a built in swith soo the data from pc a to the server actually gets sent threw the enternet at 500kbs speed which takes years for a gig file.

So what I was think was Incorperation a Switch in my room only since I have.
2 Computer/ File Server/ Xbox 360 that I use with Media Center/Ps3.

Now here are my questions.

1. Do I hook up my five things to the swith than have a cord from the router hook up to the swith.

2. Where on this switch would I plug the router cable into.
