I have a laptop...My laptop right now, when i close it, it shuts down. How do I make it just .....like stay the way it was when i went to shut it?

The power settings will have a way to tell it to stay on or go into standby or whatever when you close the clam.

Thats a safety feature for some laptops. Others can have settings changed in power options, just like in the answer above.

go to start menu ---> settings ---> control panel ----> power settings or power options

This is where you can choose things like how long the laptop has to be inactive before it 'sleeps' or 'shuts down' and what happens when you shut the laptop.

It is a power option like all the other people have said.

Here's how to fix it.
In Microsoft XP.
Start
Control Panel
Performance and Maintenance
Power Options

There you should be able to change it.

you can go to control panel of your laptop and then you will find performance and there findout enery saving option. just uncheck that box and then u will find that it will not shut down.

Hi. The 'shutdown' is actually 'standby' on most machines. Just leave the cover open a little. "Heat is your enemy".
