my pc is an older one although it has quite a good speed and usb ports etc it runs xp but it does not have any ethernet ports so i cannot connect the router to it so i can use an usb adapter which comes with the wireless router. any suggestions the router set up does not give me an option to plug in usb cables. i want to set up the wireless router to a laptop also which has wi-fi

i want to have User name in one cell and password in the other when i click lonin it will allow me to type or change the data in other pages ....

or i have to entre user name and password in the first work sheet in order to acsses other work sheets ...

can it be done ?

or how do i use a user name and pass word to keep data safe mean only allowed poeple can chage data or view data

Is it possible for others to know what and which site I am visiting or reading . I mean if I am doing something on my computer , reading or getting information at google is it possible anyone connecting to the same server would know what I am doing? Please answer me seriously. And if yes please help me how would I know that someone can read me or how can I stop others .

gahhh.Okay my computer shuts off by itself alot.
Like my internet and everything will like freeze completley.But i can still move the mouse.After like 10 seconds the mouse stops working too like i cant move it.Then either i can sit there for 5 mintues waiting for it to say "windows has occured an error and is restarting and blah blah blah" or i can just hold down the power button for it to go off.It does it alot and i dont know why,I have a Compac computer if that helps.

Can someone tell me whats wrong with it and what i should do.

also i dont think its a virus or anything because i just scanned my computer,maybe should i scan it again?

Which is better for money,I have a Nvidia 8600GT.

Would it be better getting a 2nd 8600GT in an SLI config.

Or Buying a Nvidia 8800GT 320MB ?

PS: Please remember that the 8800 is £130, and another 8600 is only £75

Ok so my dad put in the fan just now while i was away and i noticed that the fan that came with my processor is 4 pin and not 3 pin like my current fan. so i see that on the motherboard it has a 4 pin slot that says CPU FAN and a 3 pin slot that says PWR FAN. he put it in the 3 pin PWR FAN slot. is this correct or is there something wrong. thanks for the help.

Is this upgrade worth it.

I'm currently using;
2GB (2x 1GB) Patriot DDR2 667mhz RAM, CL 4-4-4-12

and im thinking of upgrading to;
2GB (2x1GB) OCZ DDR2 800mhz RAM, CL 4-4-4-15

Is it worth spending £70 on upgrading to this ?

My motherboard can handle it, i know.

A friend has just donated to me (hehee) his "old" Hp 5000 desktop. Pentium 4 2ghz....Trouble is on boot up it wants me to connect to microsoft..... if i dont it just keeps looping back to the start....and I can't...because I dont have the same network provider he had (so I cant even install my network isp setup)..

Is there a way around this, by disabling something in BIOS perhaps?

(Note I don't know that much about computers but do enjoy my computer games)

I'm considering buying a 8800GT graphics card but not sure whether my dell dimension e521 can run it. I bought the pc in January this year. These are the specs as far as I know:

AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core processor 5000+
2GB RAM
Motherboard Chipset Geforce6150 AMD hammer
305W standard Dell PSU
Running Windows Vista

It has a PCI-express x16 slot currently being occupied by a Radeon X1300 series card

So would my pc be able to run the 8800GT? Do I need some upgrading to run it or it the motherboard just not compatible at all.

I read somewhere that the stated power ratings for dell PSU's are actually average outputs not max so I think I would just about be fine on the power consumption side

Also my monitor is VGA so does that mean I will also need a DVI to VGA adapter if I can get the card

OK so here's the whole story:
I wanted to sign up to facebook because it looks fun and all my friends have one, so I go on the site and start signing up, then I click the sign up botton after putting all my info and the page changes and this is what it says, "JavaScript is currently disabled on your browser.
In order to sign up for Facebook, you must have JavaScript enabled. For instructions on how to configure your browser, select from the list of supported browsers below:" so I follow the steps and here they are: "Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 Windows:
Select Internet Options from the Tools menu.
Click the Security tab.
Click Custom Level in Security Level for this Zone.
Scroll down to Scripting, near the bottom of the list.
Under Active Scripting, choose Enable."
So I go do that and it says my Active Scripting is already enabled!!!
So now I'm starting to get really pissed off!!!
So if anyone has a solution plz post it here, cuz I really need help!!!

I wanted to do a system recovery. But whenever the load up menu pops up I'm suppose to press F10. But when I do press it nothing happens, it just brings me to the login menu. Can someone help cause I really do want to do System Recovery.

I have an Averatec laptop running Windows XP and just bought an Acer X221 22" widescreen monitor. When I plug the monitor into the laptop, it stretches everything to fit the wide screen. I found a Vista driver for the X221, but not an XP driver. Is there a way to get my laptop to support the monitor, or a way to get my monitor to not use the widescreen (I'd be happy even if I had black bars on each side of the content)? Thanks!
