Is this upgrade worth it.

I'm currently using;
2GB (2x 1GB) Patriot DDR2 667mhz RAM, CL 4-4-4-12

and im thinking of upgrading to;
2GB (2x1GB) OCZ DDR2 800mhz RAM, CL 4-4-4-15

Is it worth spending £70 on upgrading to this ?

My motherboard can handle it, i know.

Rest of PC Specs:

Intel Pentium Dual Core 950, 3.4ghz
250GB SATA2 Hardrive
Nvidia 8600GT 256MB GPU

Okay, it depends how fast your CPU is though. If your CPU is running at 800MHz FSB speed then it'll be worth it. It doesn't matter how fast one part of the computer you have, it won't speed things up unless all your parts are averge at the same speed. I mean if your upgrading your Memory make sure your processor is fast and your Graphic card clock memory is fast enough to transfer all the info quick enough. It's the same thing as moding a car, you need to balance all the airflow parts for it to run fast, not just one.

Your pc should at least be this spec for the memory to be worth it.

Intel P4 dual core 3.4 Ghz (800Mhz FSB)
250GB SATA2 HDD 7200 RPM w/ 8 MB cache
Nvidia 8600GT 256Mb with 450mhz Core clock

NOT worth it. Performance gain will not be significant. I would rather sell the 8600GT then buy the new 8800GT. That would be an AWESOME UPGRADE.

If you got the money to burn for ~3% improvement in framerate in games then maybe it's worth it. If you're expecting a huge upgrade for slightly faster RAM then no.

Don't bother. You're not adding any additional RAM and you won't notice the difference between 667 and 800.
